A Festival for the Curious and Adventurous

The Beaker Street Festival is an annual event that attracts curious minds, adventurers, and scientists from around the world.  This year's program features a captivating array of events designed to inspire and educate.  Highlights include the all-new Hobartica – Antarctica in Hobart, complete with polar plunge pools and saunas, and the Future Foods dining experiences that explore the culinary future with innovative chefs and food scientists.

Dark Sky Events and Field Trips

Tasmania's dark skies come alive in winter, offering a magical backdrop for the festival's Dark Sky events.  Enjoy a Dark Sky Dinner at Frogmore Creek winery, participate in Indigenous astronomy sessions, and discover nature's evening glow show.  For those looking to explore the wilds of Tasmania, field trips include visits to Mount Field National Park, mushroom growing workshops in abandoned railway tunnels, and walks with local legends.

A Hub of Science and Art

The festival's epicentre, located in Hobart's cultural precinct, will host a series of cabaret-style Main Stage sessions and drop-in talks, featuring an irresistible mix of ideas, music, games, and comedy.  Guests include Dr. Karl, Adam Spencer, Tegan Taylor, Soe Kean, and more.  Explore exhibitions at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery and experience the Beaker Street Science Photography Prize finalists and the Antarctic Women's Network exhibition.
